A New Style ...

A major update of The Ancient Egypt Site has long been overdue. The site in its previous version was no longer maintainable, due to the ever increasing technical complexity which did not allow me to focus on content and presentation and instead had me spend most of my time coding. Even the slightest update took too long and there were no guarantees that each browser would present the site without overlapping text or images.

The principle challenge to solving these problems, was to find a website builder that handles all the coding automatically. I checked out several options, from Joomla, which still requires some technical aptitudes, to iWeb, which even though it was great on layouting, wasn't powerful enough to manage a site of this size and which, unfortunately is no longer supported by Apple. I also checked out Rapidweaver but in the end, I prefered the more WYSIWYG approach of Sandvox.

After some initial trials, the design template that will determine The Ancient Egypt Site's new look, has been selected. The migration of the site's 800+ pages can start…
