Ankhmahor was a vizier who lived at the beginning of the 6th Dynasty. He was the 'Overseer of the Great House' and 'First' under the king, ranking him among the most important men of his time. He also was a Ka-priest.

Despite his high rank and importance, his tomb, located at the Teti-cemetery at Saqqara-North, is rather modest and small in comparison to the those of Kagemni and Mereruka. Ankhmahor's tomb is mostly known because of several scenes of people undergoing some medical treatment. This has earned this tomb the name "the tomb of the physician", even though Ankhmahor was not a physician at all.

Ankhmahor's tomb at Saqqara was decorated with scenes of people undergoing medical treatment. This scene, representing a circumcision, is one of the most famous scenes from this tomb.

The tomb also shows craftsmen, including dwarves at work as jewellers, metalworkers and sculptors, thus offering a wealth of information on different crafts and occupations during the late Old Kingdom.
