- Hetephernebti -
Hetephernebti was the wife of the 3rd Dynasty king Netjerikhet (Djoser), the builder of the first Step Pyramid at Saqqara. Her name has been found on a series of boundary stelae from her husband's funerary complex and on a fragment from a relief from Heliopolis. On the Heliopolis fragment, Hetephernebti is represented alongside the "Daughter of the King", Inetkawes, in all likelyhood her daughter with Netjerikhet. There are no known documents that would name the parents of this queen, but as her titulary does not appear to include "Daughter of the King" or "Sister of the King", it seems unlikely that her father had been a king as well. The Cairo fragment of the Royal Annals mentions a woman named Batirites as mother of Sekhemkhet, Netjerikhet's successor. |
