The study of the rich history and culture of Ancient Egypt would be near impossible without the ability to understand the many texts that this civilisation has left us. The following pages are therefor an introduction into the grammatical features of Middle Egyptian, the language that was used for most texts during and after the Middle Kingdom.
The student may choose to skim through these pages, or follow the order in which they are presented here. Note that it will be necessary to have the transliteration font installed. In addition, the student may also need to consult a dictionary to look up words. Knowledge of hieroglyphic writing is also required in order to proceed with the following pages.
